The server is healthy and there are only a few issues that have to be resolved. Look back for our new policy on data backup and the increased level of security against failure

The server that had the issues has been up for a number of days. We have been in the process of storing clients' sites on that server.

Most of the clients have their applications restored. We are working on data entry for those whose data was lost and replacing the applications that cannot be restored.

Our appologies for the long time between updates. We have been working long days and weekends going through the recovered data, rebuilding data that was lost and restoring sites.

Some sites have now been completely restored. We are working with clients on an individual basis if their site has not been restored. It has been a long process so far but we are working as quickly as we can to get our clients back in operation.

The recovery of the data took longer than anticipated. Extra hardware had to be shipped in to work on the hard drive. Preliminary results looked promising. We have the data today and are working through the list of client priorities. Not everything was recovered but we have found many of the critical files that we have been individually talking to our clients about.

On the morning of 2-17-2010, our hardware monitoring service informed us that a server in the Connecticut Data Center was failing.  Later we learned the hard drive on that server had crashed resulting in complete loss of data on that server. Our managed hosting facility immediately began the process of replacing the hard drive and reloading data from our backups. After an entire day of working with the recovery team and investigating all options, the managed hosting facility has informed us the backups were also lost.  Web-Strategi has used this facility for over 8 years and has always had backups in place.  This is the first time we have ever seen a "double failure" like this.  It is also the first time we have experienced a hard drive failure.


Needless to say, we are very disappointed with this situation and consider it to be the most important thing for Web-Strategi to handle for all of our businesses.  Please be assured that we are working with every expert we have at our disposal to recover our customers data and websites.  Our team has been on this issue and working overtime since it occurred. We will continue to work as much as needed until we have a solution for you, our customers.

Recover Plan
We have a plan to attempt to recover the lost data.  This process includes using a data recovery specialist to retrieve the data. The process is expected to last a few days, with the results available at the earliest on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.  Once the data is recovered, we will begin re-installing the websites.

We have put up "technical difficulty" pages on those sites affected. We are calling each customer affected to inform them of the status.
